The tying process requires a great deal of skill and precision because it determines the pattern that will take shape when only portions of the exposed material absorb the colors. More elaborate tie-and-dye processes involve the addition of some color to fabrics before manipulating the exposure of materials to a second layer of colors to provide multiple and unique designs and patterns.
